Wrexham is the Game 7: Kop a load of this
So long Welcome to Wrexham and Luke Young but hello to an 'exciting' development
ANDY: This week we wave goodbye to Welcome to Wrexham and say hello to an expansion to the (temporary) Kop.
Never mind the revenue generated by the 700 extra seats, the true Godsend is that it gives us something to talk about and these are two subjects we explore in detail in this week's newsletter. Which is just as well as there is bugger all transfer news, save for Steven Fletcher signing on.
Let's take them one at a time.
For me, W2W season three has been a triumph as it gave me exactly what I wanted – a look at the dressing and what makes this whole thing work. Our resident W2W reviewer Tim will cast his eye over the episode and the season as a whole.
The big question is, where does the show go next? This season the football campaign was so exciting it led the agenda, but as we move up into League One the last thing the doc needs is a mid-table finish. Fighting for the play-offs (or even battling relegation) would make better TV then 10th.
You keep the interest via the doc, but the true way the club moves forward is to take all this current fascination and get a Kop built. Something tangible while we're riding high.
Which is why this week's Kop development is not as 'exciting' as the club thinks it is. We explore that below as well as if we should have kept Fletcher on.
The fan of the week is a Welcome to Wrexham favourite and we continue our look at what Wrexham need to do to get out of League One.
As I keep saying, a lot of you guys are reading the free version of this, with limited access to all the good stuff.
And the good stuff is good (and it's only 28p a week if you sign up now).
This week Tim saves Christmas while I and Jamal Fyfield work out the true identity of Jack the Ripper.
Burning question: Will we ever get a Kop?
ANDY: So the Kop update is not much of an update at all. Well, unless you like more temporary seating because in that case, you're going to be made up.
The statement (above) is 209 words, but one of the them, 'exciting', is doing a lot of heavy lifting.
Around 700 extra seats are going into the temporary stand for next season – that probably is exciting for people struggling to get tickets.
But what isn’t thrilling, exhilarating or electrifying is that there's still no real insight into when the actual permanent Kop will be built - other than it'll be different to what we thought it would be.
